Professor Penny Webb
Professor Penny Webb is a cancer epidemiologist specialising in women’s cancers. She received her PhD from Oxford University in 1995 and spent a year at the International Agency for Research in Cancer in France, before moving to Australia. She now heads the Gynaecological Cancers Group at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Brisbane and conducts studies that aim to identify factors that influence risk of, and survival following a diagnosis of ovarian or endometrial cancer. These include the Australian Ovarian Cancer Study and Australian National Endometrial Cancer Study. In 2012 she established the OPAL (Ovarian cancer prognosis And Lifestyle) study to follow more than 900 women with ovarian cancer to assess whether potentially modifiable lifestyle factors might influence quality of life and survival.
