Professor Richard MacIsaac
Richard MacIsaac is a clinician researcher who is currently professor and director of Endocrinology and Diabetes at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and the University of Melbourne. He is also a member of the Australian Diabetes Society executive national council. Clinically he works both in the private and public hospital settings. He has been a principal investigator on numerous diabetes related clinical trials including the landmark LEADER and SUSTAIN-6 trials that involved the use of the GLP-1 receptor agonists, liraglutide and semaglutide, respectively. His main research interests are the acute and chronic complications of diabetes, especially those related to cardiovascular and kidney disease.
