Dr Brian Drew
Dr Brian Drew obtained his PhD in 2008 from Monash University after which he spent 4 years at UCLA on a CJ Martin Fellowship completing his Post-Doctoral studies. He returned to Australia in 2013 as group leader and is now head of the Molecular Metabolism & Ageing laboratory and co-director of the bioinformatics platform at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. His group has a broad interest in the molecular and genetic underpinnings of metabolic disease and currently has a specific focus on nuclear pathways that regulate mitochondrial health in adipose tissue and skeletal muscle. His group also has a strong interest in systems biology and proteomics, where he has spent the majority of the past 4 years establishing a powerful discovery platform aimed at identifying novel protein pathways associated with hepatic energy and lipid metabolism.
